exposure therapy: pajama dinner party
03.21.26
Concept Bureau hosted a night of some of the most brilliant strategists, creative directors, marketers and founders converging in NYC in their fanciest pajamas, to sit on a floor covered in pillows and board games, drinking cocktails, eating great food, and laughing until the early hours of the morning.
The brief: the client requested "disco"-glam photography.
The challenge: a bright room, no dance floor, guests seated on the floor at an intimate, cozy pajama party and hard flash in a home environment can easily tip into "teenagers with a point-and-shoot" rather than anything resembling disco & glamour...
The solution: I leaned on physical filters to suggest movement and light play, hunted for candid moments to fill the frames with energy, embraced intentional blur for that loose party feel, and converted selectively to black & white to get some retro feel.
The client had distributed disposable film cameras throughout the party, so I edited select shots to match that sort of Fuji 400/800 film aesthetic.
Hard brief. Fun solve.
